Credit Bureau

Credit bureaus are agencies that collect, organize and distribute consumer credit related information. They are also referred to as credit reporting agencies. There are three main credit bureaus in the country: Equifax, Experian and TransUnion. Equifax is the biggest of the three bureaus. TransUnion is the smallest.

Credit bureaus work with creditors and lenders to obtain credit data. This may include credit card balances, payments, bank accounts, loans, mortgages and other financial obligations. The information can be requested by consumers for free once every 12 months.

Each of the credit bureaus also has its own credit score. Credit scores are numerical indicators that represent one's credit health. Good credit is reflected in high credit scores. High credit scores can lead to better interest rates when borrowing.

CreditReportsTrial.com and the featured sponsors/paid ads on this website are NOT affiliated to the annual free credit report program. According to FTC(via ftc.gov), everyone has the right to receive a free copy of their credit report once every year from each of the three nationwide consumer reporting agencies.
